Charles
E. London School,
Richmond, BC
The
school was renovated
and new building areas
added in 1992.
With a total floor
area of 10, 185 sq.
metres, the building
was seismically
upgraded to the latest
seismic
provisions. To
provide more natural
light and ventilation,
higher roofs, framed
with heavy timber
moment resisting post
and beam members and
braced truss members
as part of the seismic
resisting system for
the building, we
introduced over most
of the corridors and
circulation
areas. The
building is
constructed in a
combination of heavy
timber, structural
steel and
masonry.
